“THE SON OF MAN MUST BE LIFTED UP, THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES MAY HAVE LIFE.” – JOHN 3:14
A young architect presents an unusual building design to her team. It seems unstable on paper. Some colleagues doubt it will stand. Months later, once completed, the building proves both stable and brilliant—its strength coming from elements no one initially understood or trusted.
Jesus speaks to Nicodemus about a mystery that cannot be controlled or fully explained: being born of the Spirit. Like the architect’s design that seemed uncertain at first, God’s work often unfolds in ways we do not immediately grasp. Yet Christ points to the cross—the Son of Man lifted up—as the place where life is secured through trust, not understanding. The early believers in Acts lived this same reality, surrendering what they had and trusting in a new way of life shaped by the Spirit, becoming one heart and one soul. Like the team that doubted the design, we may hesitate before what feels unfamiliar in God’s call. But faith grows when we lean into what Christ reveals, even without full clarity. Today, trust the quiet work of the Spirit. Let Christ lead you into life you may not yet fully understand.
