When Small Becomes Enough

“…A BOY HERE WHO HAS FIVE BARLEY LOAVES AND TWO FISH. BUT WHAT ARE THEY AMONG SO MANY?” – JOHN 6:9

A teacher runs a food drive. A girl brings one tin of beans. The teacher nearly sets it aside because it is too small. But she includes it. Days later, a mother receives that tin and weeps. It is her daughter’s favourite. She has not afforded it in months.

A great crowd follows Jesus up the mountain. Andrew finds a boy with five barley loaves and two fish—poor food, barely enough for one. “What are these among so many?” Jesus does not calculate. He gives thanks and distributes. Everyone eats. Twelve baskets of fragments remain. Like the teacher who nearly overlooked the tin, the disciples almost dismissed the boy’s offering. But Jesus receives what is small and makes it enough. The apostles are scourged yet leave rejoicing, honoured to suffer for the name. Today, you may think your offering is too small—your time, your courage, your love. Give it anyway. He does not need your abundance. He asks for your little. He will do the rest.

A Journey of Reflection and Action
Take time to prayerfully reflect on what small offering you have been holding back, write it down, meditate on God’s ability to multiply it, entrust it to Him in prayer, and courageously offer it in love while encouraging someone else to do the same.

Join Us in Prayer
Lord Jesus, You receive even the smallest offering and transform it beyond what we can imagine; teach us to trust You with what we have, to give without fear or hesitation, and to believe that in Your hands, our little becomes more than enough. Amen.
