“Bring them here to Me.”— Matthew 14:18
During the morning rush, a barista’s power goes out.
No espresso machine? She pulls out a forgotten French press.
One slow cup at a time, she serves the whole crowd—and
finds that people actually talk more while they wait. What
seemed like a disaster turned out better than normal.
Jesus’ words—“Bring them here to Me” (Matt 14:18)—invite us to release our fear of not having enough. Like the disciples, we often think, “Five loaves and two fish won’t feed this many” (John 6:9). But God’s ways don’t follow human logic. When the widow gave Elijah her last flour (1 Kings 17:12), or Moses raised a staff instead of a sword (Exodus 14:16), God turned their “not enough” into more than enough. The French press in the café and the boy’s lunch in Jesus’ hands both show this truth: God multiplies what we offer in faith, not perfection. Our limits become His masterpiece.
The miracle isn’t only in the result, but in the trust, the waiting, and the joy of “gathering up leftovers” (Matt 14:20).
Worried your offering is too small? Place it in His hands.
God is never outdone in generosity.
🛤️ A Journey of Reflection and Action
Today, consider what area of your life feels like “not enough.” Is it time? Strength? Creativity? Offer it intentionally to God through prayer. Then, journal one situation where God surprised you with provision or joy in a time of lack. Meditate on Matthew 14:13–21 and John 6:1–13. Share this reflection with a friend or in your faith community. Finally, take one small act of trust today—whether giving, helping, or creating—knowing that in God’s hands, your little is more than enough.
