“ONE OF YOU WILL BETRAY ME.” – MATTHEW 26:21
A young man inherits his father’s watch. It isn’t worth much. Later, in debt, he sells it for a small amount. The buyer realizes it’s actually very valuable. The man leaves with the money—but regrets selling something that meant so much.
Judas goes to the chief priests. He names his price: thirty pieces of silver. Not a fortune. Just enough to betray. He waits for the right moment, looking for opportunity. At the Passover meal, Jesus speaks into the tension: “One of you will betray me.” Each disciple asks, “Is it I, Lord?” They search their own hearts. Judas asks too: “Is it I, Rabbi?” Jesus answers, “You have said so.” He does not expose him to the others. He waits. Like the young man who sold his father’s watch, Judas names a price for something priceless. But Jesus does not stop him. He lets Judas choose. Today, pause and ask honestly: where is your loyalty weakening? Christ still sees you, still speaks to you, and still calls you to remain faithful. He knows. He waits. He still offers you the dish. What will you name as your price?
