“TAKE NOTHING FOR YOUR JOURNEY… NEITHER BREAD, NOR MONEY” – LUKE 9:3
A young musician auditions for a local competition, feeling nervous as others arrive with elaborate props. With only her simple guitar, she doubts herself. However, when she starts to play, the room falls silent. Her pure voice touches the judges more deeply than any previous performance, teaching her that it’s all about the heart behind the song.
Jesus sends His disciples out with nothing shows that true power comes from God, not from human resources. Like Ezra standing empty-handed before God (Ezra 9:5-9), we serve best when we rely on God’s provision rather than our own preparations. The disciples’ lack of possessions forced them to depend entirely on God’s power working through their words and actions. When we strip away our reliance on material security, credentials, or elaborate plans, we create space for God’s grace to work more visibly. Our vulnerability becomes a vessel for divine strength. Travel light through your spiritual journey—not just physically but in heart and attitude. The less you depend on external supports, the more clearly God’s power can shine through your life. Simplicity can become God’s opportunity to demonstrate His sufficiency.
