“Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.” – Luke 15:6
After days of rain, a child loses his beloved kite to the wind, tangled high in a tree. Heartbroken, he watches daily, hoping to see it fall. A week later, his father quietly climbs the tree and brings it home. The boy runs into his arms, laughing and crying—the joy is not just the kite, but it’s about being loved by someone who cared enough to search it for him.
The lost kite represents a soul—precious, unique, and seemingly beyond recovery. The child’s helpless waiting mirrors our own inability to free ourselves from the tangles of sin and despair. The father’s quiet, determined rescue reveals the heart of our Heavenly Father, who does not wait for us to climb down or fix our mistakes. He moves first—patiently, persistently, and personally—to restore what is His. The joy that follows is not just over the recovery of an object but over the renewal of a relationship. It is the wondrous truth that we are so deeply known and loved that God Himself undertakes the climb to bring us home. And when you are restored, remember—your story becomes a reason for heaven to rejoice. If you feel lost and tangled, look up—your Father is already climbing the tree.
A Journey of Reflection and Action
- Journal: Reflect on a time when you felt distant from God. How did He “climb the tree” for you?
- Meditate: Read Luke 15:1–7 and let the image of the rejoicing shepherd reveal God’s personal love for you.
- Act: Reach out in love to someone who has drifted away—let them know they’re still seen and loved.
- Share: Discuss what it means for heaven to rejoice when one lost soul returns to God.
