“The people living in darkness have seen a great light.” – Matthew 4:16
In a dark forest where villagers relied on dim lanterns, a huge old tree fell during a storm. Its fall opened the canopy, letting bright sunlight shine through for the first time. In the light, the villagers discovered colourful flowers, safe paths, and fruit trees that had been hidden in the darkness.
Jesus’ move to Galilee fulfilled Isaiah’s prophecy, revealing Him as the light shining on those in darkness (Matthew 4:12–16). Like sunlight breaking through a canopy, His presence unveils a reality once hidden. This light is the Gospel of the Kingdom, calling people to repentance, restoring what is broken, and bringing healing to those long in shadow. As 1 John 4:1–3 teaches, every spirit must be discerned by this light: does it confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh? Though the world offers many shadows and misleading voices, God’s Spirit always aligns with this incarnate truth. We abide in Him by obeying His command—to believe in Jesus Christ and to love one another (1 John 3:23–24). Step out of spiritual shadow today. Turn toward Christ’s light and become a living witness of the Kingdom’s dawn.
