Remove the Blockag

“FIRST BE RECONCILED TO YOUR BROTHER, AND THEN COME AND OFFER YOUR GIFT.” – MATTHEW 5:24

A woman notices that the water in her kitchen sink is no longer draining properly. She keeps pouring in clean water, but it simply rises and sits there. The problem is not the water; it is the blockage underneath. Until she clears the pipe, nothing will flow as it should. Once the obstruction is removed, the water runs freely again.

Jesus teaches that worship cannot flow freely if resentment blocks the heart (Matthew 5:23–24). We may pray, fast, and attend church, but if we cling to anger or refuse to forgive, something inside remains obstructed. God desires more than outward practice; He desires a clean and honest heart. Ezekiel reminds us that when we turn away from sin, we live (Ezekiel 18:27). Psalm 130 assures us that with the Lord, there is mercy and redemption. Lent is the time to clear what is hidden beneath the surface. Is there bitterness you have ignored? A relationship left unresolved? Do not delay. Remove the blockage. Seek peace where you can. When your heart is reconciled, your prayer will flow more freely, and your offering will be sincere.

Lord, search my heart and reveal any hidden resentment. Give me the courage to seek reconciliation and the grace to forgive as You have forgiven me. Let my worship flow from a heart at peace. Amen.
