“MY MOTHER AND MY BRETHREN ARE THEY WHO HEAR THE WORD OF GOD AND DO IT.” – LUKE 8:21
A young boy watches his parents argue and grows distant. Feeling lost, he finds comfort in a kind neighbour who listens and supports him. Over time, the boy grows close to this neighbour, who becomes a steady presence in his life—a true family beyond blood. The boy learns family isn’t only about who you’re born to, but who truly cares and stands with you.
Jesus’ words in Luke 8:21 redefine what it means to be family. True family is not simply about having shared blood but about a more profound bond grounded in obedience to God’s Word. Just as the boy found family in a neighbour’s care, Jesus invites us into a spiritual family united by faith and love. God often builds His family through quiet acts of love. The Church is God’s chosen family—a place where spiritual bonds can heal what broken biological ties cannot. This family supports, challenges, and nurtures us in our walk with Christ. It reminds us that belonging comes from living out God’s call, not just shared history. As members of this family, we are called to listen actively and respond faithfully, allowing God’s Word to shape our lives and relationships. Are you embracing this family today?
