Persevering in Prayer

“Will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night?” – Luke 18:7

A small stream flowed against a massive rock. Day after day, the water washed over the stone’s surface. It did not smash the rock in a single blow, but through its constant, gentle presence, it eventually wore a deep, smooth groove, changing the shape of the stone and carving a new path forward.

Though the widow faced an indifferent judge who neither feared God nor cared for people (Luke 18:2–4), her persistence eventually compelled him to act. Jesus uses this contrast to reveal something far greater: if perseverance can move a corrupt man, how much more will it move a loving Father who never ignores His children? Persistent prayer is not about pressuring God but about shaping our trust, softening our resistance, and aligning our hearts with His perfect timing. In a world trained to expect instant outcomes, prayer invites us into steady faith—a faith that believes God hears even when answers seem delayed, a faith that stays rooted when emotions waver. Do not mistake God’s silence for inactivity; He works in hidden places, strengthening you while you wait.
Keep praying with courage; your Father is attentive, compassionate, and never slow in His love.

Join Us in Prayer

Lord, teach us to pray with steady hearts and trusting spirits. When answers seem distant, remind us that You are near, working in ways we cannot yet see. Strengthen our faith, soften our resistance, and guide our hearts to rest in Your perfect timing. Amen.
