There is a quiet fear many people carry when it comes to God — the fear of rejection. The fear that they are too broken, too far gone, or too inconsistent to be accepted. John 6:37 speaks directly to that fear with clarity and assurance.
“All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.” (John 6:37, ESV)
This verse reveals both God’s initiative and His promise.
It begins with the Father. Our turning toward God does not start with our effort, but with His love reaching for us first. The desire to seek God is not accidental; it is often the evidence that He is already drawing a heart home. God’s purpose is not weak or uncertain. When He draws, He draws with intention.
The verse then speaks of response. “Whoever comes to me” removes every boundary we might try to place on grace. There are no limits in this invitation. No background is excluded. No story is too messy. Grace does not ask where you have been before it welcomes you.
The promise reaches its fullest comfort in the final words: “I will never cast out.” Jesus does not push away those who come honestly. Brokenness is not a barrier; it is often the reason people come in the first place. You are not rejected for your wounds. You are received with them.
This verse reshapes how we understand acceptance. Jesus does not wait for people to be whole before welcoming them. He welcomes them so that He can make them whole.
