“Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.-Matthew 5:44 –

A woman discovers her coworker has been spreading rumors to sabotage her promotion. Instead of confronting him angrily, she quietly leaves a care package on his desk when she learns his wife is seriously ill—with a simple note: “Praying for your family.”

Jesus’ command to love our enemies (Matt 5:44) reveals God’s heart: He shows mercy even to those who oppose Him (Matt 5:45). This love isn’t passive tolerance—it’s active, courageous grace that breaks the cycle of hurt. Like the woman choosing kindness over revenge, we mirror our Father’s perfect love (v.48) when we respond to malice with compassion. Her act didn’t just disarm conflict; it planted a seed of reconciliation, embodying Paul’s exhortation: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him… Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” (Romans 12:20-21).
Try one small act of unexpected grace today—a prayer, a helping hand, or a word of encouragement. Such love has divine power to soften even the hardest heart.
