“LET HIM WHO IS WITHOUT SIN AMONG YOU CAST THE FIRST STONE.” – JOHN 8:7
A teenage boy is caught stealing from a shop. The owner wants to press charges and make an example. His mother pleads, offering to repay everything. A small crowd gathers, voices rising. Then an older woman steps forward. “I remember when my son failed, too,” she says softly. The room quiets. The owner pauses, then lowers his hand.
In John 8:1–11, a woman stands surrounded by accusation, much like the boy in the story. The crowd is ready, certain of their judgment. Yet Jesus interrupts the moment, bending down and writing in the dust. Then He speaks: “Let him who is without sin among you cast the first stone.” Like the crowd that slowly fell silent, the accusers began to leave. Mercy breaks through where condemnation had taken hold. In Daniel 13, Susanna also faces false accusations, yet God defends the innocent and reveals the truth. Jesus does not ignore sin, but He refuses to let judgment turn into destruction. Today, if you find yourself holding a stone—anger, resentment, or judgment—pause. Remember the mercy you have received. Let it shape how you respond, and choose grace over condemnation.

A Journey of Reflection and Action
Take a quiet moment today to examine your heart, release any judgment or resentment through prayer, reflect on the mercy God has shown you in Scripture, write it down, and choose to respond with grace toward others.
Join Us in Prayer
Lord Jesus, You are full of mercy and truth, and You call us to extend the same grace we have received. Help us to lay down every stone of judgment, to forgive as You forgive, and to walk in compassion and humility each day. Amen.
