“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden”Matthew 11:28

A gardener struggles to carry too many heavy pots at once.
Each step strains his back, and his face shows the effort—he’s about to collapse. Seeing this, the homeowner rushes out—not just pointing, but bringing a sturdy wheelbarrow. Gently she says, “Let me help you. You don’t have to carry it alone.” Relief floods the gardener’s face as he starts transferring the pots, the weight immediately easing.

Jesus invites us to come to Him when we are burdened (Matt 11:28), just as the homeowner steps in to help the struggling gardener. “Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you” (Psalm 55:22).
Christ doesn’t just point to solutions; He becomes our “wheelbarrow” — the scarred-handed homeowner who rushes to help. His “rest” isn’t merely putting down weights, but learning to let Him bear them with us. The gardener’s relief isn’t just physical; it’s the realization that his struggle wasn’t failure — he was simply using the wrong tools for the task. Those pots weren’t meant for your arms alone. Transfer them to the One who designed both the load and the way to carry it.

A Journey of Reflection and Action

Take a moment today to write down a list of what’s currently weighing on your heart—decisions, emotions, responsibilities. Then, read Matthew 11:28 and Psalm 55:22 slowly, prayerfully, and aloud. Meditate on the image of Christ offering you a wheelbarrow, asking to carry your burdens. Reflect in your journal: What burdens am I still trying to carry alone? Share this reflection with a friend or spiritual group, and discuss how you can better rely on Christ daily. Finally, commit to practicing this surrender by consciously handing one worry over to Him in prayer each morning this week.

Join Us in Prayer

Lord Jesus, You see the loads we carry, the weight that bends our spirit and drains our strength. Thank You for being more than a guide—you are our strength, our rest, our wheelbarrow. Teach us to surrender. Help us stop pretending we can handle it all alone. Remind us daily that Your hands are already scarred from bearing our heaviest burdens. We choose today to hand them over to You. Amen.
