He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” – Matthew 11:15 (ESV)
A family lived near a train track for years, so accustomed to the rumble that they no longer heard it. One day, a visitor staying in their guest room bolted upright at the sound. “What is that?” she asked. The family, startled, realized they had tuned out a powerful force that still shook the house, simply because they had stopped paying attention.
Like the family who grew deaf to the train, we can become spiritually complacent, tuning out God’s voice amid familiar routines, obligations, and distractions. Jesus’ urgent call, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear” (Matthew 11:15), reminds us that the Kingdom of God is not distant—it is breaking into our world here and now. John the Baptist prepared the way, but Jesus inaugurates a new reality: a kingdom that demands attention, commitment, and active pursuit. It shakes the old structures of comfort, habit, and inertia; it calls for hearts awake and lives fully surrendered. Don’t let your spiritual senses grow dull. Today, ask God to open your ears and sharpen your awareness, so you might hear His voice clearly, respond with courage, and pursue His Kingdom above all else.
