“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart… and your neighbor as yourself.”
– Matthew 22:37, 39 –
A busy executive, known for his sharp mind but cold demeanour, reluctantly visits his ageing father in a nursing home. But seeing his father struggle to open a photo album, he pauses, sits down, and listens. In that moment, he learns that real love isn’t measured in minutes, but in how fully we show up.
When asked about the greatest commandment, Jesus unites heaven and earth with a single truth: love is the centre of all faith. To love God with heart, soul, and mind is to give Him not fragments of devotion, but our whole selves. Yet Jesus doesn’t leave love in abstraction—He binds it inseparably to how we treat others (v. 39). The executive who planned only a 15-minute visit learned this when his father’s trembling hands called him to stay. Real love interrupts convenience. Without such love, our religion becomes empty formality. With it, every act—whether prayer, work, or kindness—becomes worship. Christ calls us to live undivided, where loving God and loving neighbour are one seamless command. Love God wholly, love others freely—this is the life that fulfils His law.

Lord Jesus, teach me to love You with all my heart, soul, and mind. Help me not to separate love for You from love for others. May my actions reflect Your love—selfless, patient, and whole. Amen.
