God’s Heart for the One

“It is not the will of your Father in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.” – Matthew 18:14

A jeweler was transporting a case of one hundred exquisite diamonds. Upon arrival, he discovered one was missing—a small but perfect stone. He retraced his route, searching under seats and along pathways. When he finally found it glinting in the gravel, his joy was not for the value recovered, but for the completeness of the set he was entrusted to keep.

God’s heart is tender toward every soul, valuing even the one who seems small or lost. Isaiah reminds us to prepare the way for the Lord, straightening paths in anticipation of His coming, while Jesus illustrates the shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to seek the one that has gone astray. Like the master jeweler searching for the missing diamond, God meticulously seeks each person, not merely for their worth but to restore the fullness of His creation. We are called to mirror this care—offering compassion, patience, and gentle guidance to those struggling. You are personally known and sought by Him. Every act of mercy and attention reflects God’s love. Do we share His heart for the lost? Reflect His shepherd’s love today by seeking out someone who feels alone or far from the fold.
