“Go, and do likewise” – Luke 10:37
A well-dressed businessman sees a man struggling with a heavy bag. While others pass by, he stops, helps, and walks a few blocks beside him. The man, eyes wet, whispers, “I thought kindness was gone.” The businessman smiles. “It still does—sometimes it just wears a suit.”
The parable of the Good Samaritan teaches that love is measured not by status, wealth, or convenience, but by active compassion. Like the Samaritan, we are called to notice those in need and respond, even when it’s inconvenient or unexpected. Life offers countless opportunities to act with mercy—helping a neighbour, comforting the overlooked, or lifting burdens others cannot. Our faith becomes real when we move from mere empathy to deliberate action. Jesus’ command, “Go and do likewise,” challenges us to embody His love practically and without hesitation. True mercy combines humility and courage, revealing Christ in our daily encounters.
By serving others, we participate in God’s transformative work in the world. Look beyond appearances—respond with humble compassion.
