“For the children of this world are wiser in their generation than the children of light.” – Luke 16:8

A manager learned his department was being downsized. With a month before leaving, he didn’t slack off. Instead, he connected junior colleagues with key contacts, wrote glowing recommendations, and helped them secure new jobs. When he finally left, he wasn’t met with pity but with gratitude, respect, and lasting friendships earned through his kindness.

Jesus’ parable of the unjust steward challenges us to apply wisdom and foresight to the resources and responsibilities entrusted to us. The manager’s story mirrors this principle: even facing loss, he acted intentionally to serve others and maximise the impact of his position. As Paul reminds us in Romans 15, God equips us with grace to admonish, guide, and build up His people. True children of light act with discernment, not merely cleverness, but with the Spirit-led purpose of furthering God’s kingdom. Every task, relationship, and opportunity is a chance to steward His gifts faithfully. When we act wisely and sacrificially, we leave a legacy of goodness, echoing eternal values beyond earthly gain. Today’s challenge is to steward time, talents, and resources with intention, integrity, and Christ-centred wisdom. Act wisely with every gift—faithful stewardship blesses others and honours God.

Lord, teach me to be a wise and faithful steward of all You’ve entrusted to me. Help me to use my time, gifts, and influence for Your kingdom, not my comfort. May every action reflect Your integrity and love. Amen.
