“By your endurance you will gain your lives.” – Luke 21:19
A master blacksmith repeatedly heated a piece of iron in the forge, then plunged it into cold water. Each cycle of intense heat and sudden cooling made the metal harder and more resilient. What began as soft, malleable iron became an unbreakable sword, capable of withstanding tremendous force without shattering.
Jesus prepares us for difficult times when we will face opposition, betrayal, and persecution for our faith. He doesn’t promise to remove these trials but to be with us through them. Like the blacksmith’s process that transforms weak iron into a strong sword, God uses our struggles to strengthen our character and deepen our dependence on Him. When we endure with patient faith, we demonstrate that our hope is not in temporary safety but in eternal life with Christ. Our perseverance becomes a powerful testimony to God’s sustaining grace. Remember, no hardship can ultimately harm the soul that belongs to Jesus. Stand firm in His promises, rely on His wisdom in difficult moments, and trust that your faithful endurance is securing an eternal reward that can never be taken from you.
