Do Not Fear, Only Believe

“Do not fear, only believe.” – Mark 5:36

During a long-distance marathon, a runner stumbles and pulls a muscle halfway through. Medical staff urge him to stop, but a coach meets him trackside, adjusts his stride, and walks beside him for a while. The pain remains, yet confidence returns, and he finishes not by strength, but by trusting guidance to the very end of the race.

Jairus and the suffering woman come to Jesus when fear has already set in (Mark 5:21–36). One risks reputation, the other risks visibility, yet both keep moving toward Him. Like the injured runner who finishes by leaning on guidance, faith here means continuing despite pain. Jesus pauses, heals, then speaks directly into terror: “Do not fear, only believe” (Mark 5:36). David’s mourning over Absalom reveals how loss can overwhelm even victory (2 Samuel 18–19). Psalm 86 becomes the prayer of such moments—crying out to a merciful God. Christ does not rush grief away; He enters it and restores life, even when the path seems broken, and the crowd presses in. Today, when strength fails and answers are delayed, stay with Jesus. Let His presence steady your steps. Trust that His word still leads beyond fear into life.
