Bring Your Deepest Needs to Him

“If you will, you can make me clean.” – Mark 1:40

A city hospital was known for its prestigious research wing, attracting renowned specialists. Yet, its founder was most often found in the crowded, underfunded community clinic across town. When asked why, she simply said, “A hospital’s dignity isn’t in who it keeps out, but in who it welcomes and heals. My place is where the need is.”

The leper’s plea is that perfect flare of faith: acknowledging Christ’s sovereign will (“if you will”) while trusting His unlimited power (“you can”). Unlike Israel, who treated the Ark as a lucky charm (1 Sam 4:3), the leper sought not a tool, but the Person. Jesus responds not with ritual, but with compassionate touch and clear will: “I will; be clean.” This reveals a God whose power is directed by His heart, who desires our wholeness. We often doubt His willingness or try to bargain. This Gospel dispels that. Today, bring your deepest needs to Him with the leper’s humble confidence. Trust that His compassionate will is already inclined toward your healing. Your plea does not force His hand; it meets His ready heart.
