He Is Risen

“HE IS NOT HERE; HE HAS RISEN.” – MATTHEW 28:6

A father spends months building a wooden boat in his garage. When finished, he sails it once, then stores it away. His son asks why. The father smiles: “I built it to prove I could. Now I don’t need to sail it. I just need to know it’s there.”

Mary Magdalene and the other Mary come to the tomb at dawn, expecting a sealed grave. Instead, an earthquake. An angel sitting on the rolled-back stone. “Do not be afraid,” he says. “He is not here. He has risen, as he said.” The women run from the tomb, terrified and overjoyed. Then Jesus himself meets them. He says, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to meet me in Galilee.” Like the father who didn’t need to sail his boat again, the empty tomb is enough. We don’t need Jesus to stay dead to prove he loved us. He rose to prove death could not hold him. Today, what grave have you been visiting? A dream that died. A hope you buried. He is not there. He is already ahead of you, waiting in Galilee. Go. Tell. Fear not.
