Do You Want to Be Healed?

“DO YOU WANT TO BE HEALED?” – JOHN 5:6

A man spends decades in a job he dislikes. When early retirement is offered, he hesitates. Without the job, he is unsure who he would be. His wife gently asks, “If you could do anything, what would you want?” He pauses in silence. No one has asked him that question for years.

Jesus asks a similar question to a man who had lived with illness for thirty-eight years (John 5:1–6). Like the man in the story who had stopped thinking about what he truly wanted, the sick man had grown used to waiting and surviving rather than hoping for change. Jesus’ question reaches deeper than the illness itself. Healing begins with an honest desire for something better. When the man responds, Jesus speaks life into his situation and restores him (John 5:8–9). Ezekiel describes water flowing from God’s presence that brings life wherever it reaches (Ezekiel 47:9). Christ brings that same renewing power to the heart. Today, listen carefully to His question. Do you truly want the healing and new life He offers? Let that desire lead you to trust and follow Him.
