“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart.” – Mark 12:30 (ESV)

More Than Words – Love That Shapes Life

A child once asked his father if he loved the family. “Of course I do,” the father replied. Yet he was rarely home, often distracted, and seldom listened when anyone spoke. One evening, the child quietly said, “I know you say you love us, but we hardly see it.” The words stayed with him.

Jesus teaches that the greatest commandment is to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbour as ourselves (Mark 12:29–31). Like the father in the story, love cannot remain only in words; it must shape how we live. Hosea calls God’s people to return to the Lord with sincere hearts, trusting His mercy and leaving behind the things that draw them away (Hosea 14:2–4). True devotion is not simply outward religion but a life centred on God. When love for God becomes genuine, it naturally flows into the way we treat others. Today, let your love for God be more than a statement. Allow it to guide your choices, your priorities, and your care for those around you.

A Journey of Reflection and Action

Spend a few quiet moments reflecting on how your love for God is expressed in your daily life, meditate on His Word, write your thoughts in a journal, pray for a sincere and devoted heart, and consider one practical way you can show that love through kindness and service to others today.

Join Us in Prayer

Lord God, You call us to love You with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Help us move beyond words and live out our love through faithful obedience, compassion, and sincere devotion. Shape our hearts so that our love for You is seen in the way we treat others and in the choices we make each day. Amen.
