“YOUR FATHER KNOWS WHAT YOU NEED BEFORE YOU ASK HIM.” – MATTHEW 6:8
A young child explains at length why she needs help with her homework. She lists every difficulty and repeats herself, worried her mother may not understand. Her mother smiles and gently says, “I already know. Sit down, and we’ll do it together.” The help was never waiting for better words, only on trust.
Jesus teaches us not to pile up empty words in prayer (Matthew 6:7–9). Like the child who thinks she must explain everything, we sometimes believe God needs persuading. Yet our Father already knows what we need. The Lord’s Prayer is simple and direct: honour God, seek His will, ask for daily bread, and offer and receive forgiveness. Isaiah reminds us that God’s word is never wasted; it achieves what He intends (Isaiah 55:11). Psalm 34 assures us that He hears the cry of the humble. Prayer is not about performance but relationship. Lent invites us to speak honestly and listen deeply. Today, pray slowly and trust that God understands before you finish your sentence. Rest in the Father who is near and faithful.

A Journey of Reflection and Action
Set aside five quiet minutes today to pray the Lord’s Prayer slowly. Pause after each line and reflect on what it means personally. Practise trusting God without over-explaining—simply rest in His presence.
Join Us in Prayer
Heavenly Father, You know my needs before I speak them. Teach me to pray with trust rather than fear, with simplicity rather than performance. Help me rest in Your faithful love. Amen.
