“THEN THEY WILL FAST.” – MATTHEW 9:15
A shop owner notices a young employee who has made costly mistakes. Others suggest dismissal, but instead, the owner calls him aside and offers proper training. The employee is surprised but grateful. Given a second chance, he works harder than before. What changed him was not shame, but someone believing he could begin again.
Jesus sees Levi and simply says, “Follow me” (Luke 5:27). Like the employee offered another chance, Levi rises because mercy meets him where he is. The Pharisees complain, but Jesus reminds them that the sick need a doctor. God does not delight in punishment, but in conversion and life (Ezekiel 33:11). Isaiah promises that when we turn from blame and selfishness, we become like a watered garden, rebuilding what was broken (Isaiah 58:11–12). Mercy does not ignore sin; it restores direction. Christ calls us not because we are already whole, but because we are willing to follow. Today, hear His call personally. Rise from what has held you in place. Trust His mercy to rebuild your life, and allow Him to make you a repairer of what once lay in ruins.
