“What comes out of a person is what defiles him.” – Mark 7:20
During a long renovation, a homeowner focuses on repainting walls and polishing fixtures. Friends admire the shine, but an inspector points out hidden mould behind cabinets, quietly spreading. Until the source is addressed, no surface fix lasts. The problem was never the paint; it was what grew unseen, shaping the air everyone breathed inside the home
Jesus shifts attention from external rules to the interior source of holiness and harm (Mark 7:14–23). Like the renovated house with hidden mould, the real issue lies beneath appearances, shaping everything we breathe and live. The queen of Sheba travelled far to test Solomon’s wisdom and left changed because truth reached her heart (1 Kings 10:1–10). Psalm 37 echoes this inner grounding, where God’s law rests within and steadies each step. Purity is not about managing impressions, but surrendering desires, words, and motives to God’s truth. What flows from the heart reveals who we are becoming. Christ does not shame us for what He uncovers; He invites healing at the source. Today, ask God to search your heart gently. Commit your way to Him. Trust that truth, once welcomed within, will bring clarity, freedom, and peace.
