“Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works” – Matthew 5:16
On a foggy rural road, drivers slow as visibility drops. Reflective posts along the shoulder catch headlights, blinking one by one. No post moves or speaks; each reflects what hits it. Together they trace the curve ahead, helping cars stay centred until the fog lifts and the road opens safely, without panic or sudden turns.
Jesus calls his disciples salt and light, shaping the world through presence and practice (Matthew 5:13–16). Like the reflective posts guiding drivers through fog, believers do not generate light; they receive Christ’s light and faithfully return it. Isaiah teaches that light rises when bread is shared, and burdens are lifted (Isaiah 58:7–10). Paul insists this witness remains humble, so faith rests on God’s power, not eloquence (1 Cor 2:1–5). When our lives quietly reflect mercy, clarity emerges for others navigating uncertainty. The aim is not attention, but direction—helping hearts stay centred on the way ahead. Christ, the true light, shines first; we simply catch and pass it on. Today, choose a concrete act of mercy. Place it where someone needs guidance. Trust God to make your obedience visible and fruitful, even when recognition never comes publicly.
