“If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.” – Mark 3:25
During the renovation of an old bridge, engineers discovered stress fractures spreading from a single weakened joint. Traffic still crossed, but instability increased with every passing load. Work stopped until the damaged section was reinforced and aligned with the whole structure. Once secured, the bridge could again bear weight safely and serve its purpose.
Like the engineers who halted traffic to reinforce a fractured joint, Jesus reveals that division must be confronted before true strength can return. By “binding the strong man” (Mark 3:27), He restores unity at the source, freeing God’s work to advance with power. The scribes’ accusation shows how dangerous it is to mislabel God’s saving action as evil, weakening faith from within. Timothy and Titus were entrusted with the opposite task: strengthening what is fragile, correcting disorder, and safeguarding unity in the Church. Paul urges Timothy to stir into flame the gift he has received—not with fear, but with power, love, and self-control. The Gospel stands firm when faith is aligned with truth and courage. Allow Christ to reinforce what feels strained or unstable in you. Stand faithfully in your calling, and help carry His Church forward with steady hope and unified strength.
