“Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” – John 1:29
A sign language interpreter stands beside a speaker, faithfully repeating each message. The audience watches the speaker, not her hands, yet without her the meaning would be lost. She never alters the words or draws attention to herself; her role is simply to ensure the message is received clearly and without distortion.
John the Baptist lives like the interpreter—fully attentive to the message, never to himself. When questioned, he refuses misplaced titles and faithfully conveys what he has received, pointing to Christ who already stands among the people. Likewise, the Apostle John urges us to let what we heard from the beginning remain within us. This confession—that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Father—is not an optional doctrine but the source of eternal life. When this truth abides, the Spirit clarifies, steadies, and protects us from distortion. Like the interpreter, our role is not to alter the message or draw attention to ourselves, but to transmit Christ faithfully through our lives. Remain rooted in what you have received. Let Christ speak through you. In quiet fidelity, you will help others hear the truth that saves.
