Look and Listen

“Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind receive their sight…” – Matthew 11:4–5

An elderly farmer, praying for rain as his crops withered, began to doubt the promise of a coming storm. His neighbor, returning from town, didn’t offer more words. Instead, he pointed to the darkening horizon, the distant rumble of thunder, and the first cool drops hitting the dust. “Look and listen,” he said. “The proof is here.”

Main Reflection Text:

Locked in prison, John the Baptist sends one desperate question: “Are You the One?” Jesus doesn’t argue theology; He simply says, “Go tell John what you hear and see” (Matt 11:4)—blind eyes opening, lame leaping, the poor hearing good news—exactly the signs Isaiah foretold centuries before (Isa 35:5–6). James urges patience like a farmer waiting for rain (James 5:7), but Jesus announces the early rain is already falling. The kingdom is not delayed; it is breaking in through quiet miracles all around us. Stop scanning the sky for a louder sign. Look and listen today: a marriage healing, a heart turning back to God, hope rising in someone who had none. That is your thunder. The first drops are hitting the dust. Lift your head—the promised rain is here, and the harvest is nearer than you think. Rejoice.
