“Lord, teach us to pray” – Luke 11:1
A boy struggles with writing a heartfelt letter to his mother. His words feel clumsy, so his older sister gently helps him shape each sentence. Soon, what seemed impossible flows naturally. When his mother reads the letter, tears well in her eyes—not because of polished words, but because the letter carried love that reached her heart.
Like the boy who was guided to write his letter, the disciples approached Jesus with humility, asking, “Lord, teach us to pray” (Luke 11:1). Prayer isn’t about eloquence; it’s about a sincere heart reaching out to the Father. It transcends performance and becomes a sacred communion with God. Through the offering of the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus invites us into a deeper experience of trust, forgiveness, and daily reliance on God’s provision. Prayer shifts from being a task to becoming a loving relationship, grounded in God’s presence and grace. When words escape us, we can start with the prayer Jesus taught and rest assured that God comprehends the unspoken desires of our hearts. Each sincere prayer, no matter how simple, brings us closer to Him and nurtures our connection with the divine.
