A journalist uncovers corruption in a local government. The story, if published, will expose injustice but risks retaliation. Powerful figures try to silence her with threats and bribes. Torn between fear and integrity, she publishes the truth anyway. Though she faces hostility, her bravery stirs others to speak out, proving that one voice can ignite a movement for justice.
The brutal demand for John the Baptist’s head reflects how truth unsettles corrupt power. John spoke boldly of God’s standards, and though his words cost him his life, his witness could not be silenced. In Christ, we see the ultimate fulfilment of this reality: He too was rejected and condemned, yet His sacrifice opened the way to eternal life. Today, we may not face literal execution, but we encounter moments when following Christ puts us at odds with comfort, popularity, or security. Following Christ means we value God’s approval over human praise. Our call to sanctity (1 Thessalonians 4:7) will inevitably put us at odds with a culture of death and deceit. Where is God asking you to stand for His truth with loving courage today?
Do not fear when truth costs you something—Christ is worth more than all.
