Are You Ready? Living Watchfully for Christ’s Return

“The master will come on a day when he does not expect him” – Matthew 24:50

At a busy train station, most travellers watch the clock, waiting for the listed departure. Some wander into shops, certain they have more time. But without warning, the train arrives ahead of schedule. Those who stayed alert, tickets in hand, board calmly. The others dash back, only to see the doors close. Readiness, not rushing, made all the difference.

Jesus warns that His return will come without notice, like the train arriving early. Too often, we live as if tomorrow is guaranteed, putting off prayer, forgiveness, or acts of mercy. Yet Christ calls us to readiness today—not in restless fear, but in steady faithfulness. True watchfulness means living each moment with His Kingdom in view: loving sincerely, walking in integrity, and keeping our hearts aligned with Him. The surprise of His coming is not meant to catch us anxious, but prepared with joy. His return is certain, His timing hidden—but when our lives are shaped by Him today, tomorrow’s surprise becomes joy, not dread. When our lives are shaped by Christ’s presence now, His return will never find us unready. Keep your ticket of faith in hand—His Kingdom train could arrive today.

A Journey of Reflection and Action

  • Spend 10 minutes in prayer today asking: “Lord, if You came now, what would You find in my heart?”
  • Journal about areas where you’ve been “putting off” forgiveness, obedience, or acts of love.
  • Meditate on Matthew 24:42–44, inviting the Spirit to strengthen your watchfulness.
  • Share with a friend or group how living ready changes daily priorities.

Join Us in Prayer

Lord Jesus, teach me to live with a watchful heart, not in fear but in faith. Help me to walk daily in Your presence, ready for Your return at any moment. Keep me faithful, joyful, and prepared by Your grace. Amen.
