“I came to cast fire on the earth”
Luke 12:49 –
A young woman grows serious about her faith—praying more, speaking kindly, living with purpose. But soon, friends pull away and family members say she’s “too much.” She feels the sting of being misunderstood. Still, she holds firm. Over time, one or two begin to ask quiet questions. Her fire hasn’t just divided—it’s started to awaken others.
Jesus’ strong words jar us—“I came to cast fire… not peace, but division” (Luke 12:49,51). Isn’t He the Prince of Peace? Yet, like Jeremiah in the pit (Jer 38), truth often divides before it heals—pulling apart comfort from conviction, lies from light. His fire isn’t wild; it purifies. Hebrews 12:2 tells us Jesus endured the cross “for the joy set before Him.” That joy came not through comfort, but through courage. Like the young woman in our story, following God may leave you feeling alone—misread by family, distant from friends. But the fire, though sharp, can stir hearts around you too.
So here’s the question: Will you fear the fire—or trust it? Let it come. What feels like loss may really be love, clearing room for a deeper, freer, fuller life.

Heavenly Father,
You are the refiner of hearts and the source of true courage. Though Your fire may unsettle and divide, I trust it is purifying me for Your purpose. Strengthen me when I feel misunderstood, remind me that loss may be love in disguise, and help me walk in the joy of Christ who endured the cross for me. May my life awaken others to Your truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
