“This is my beloved Son; listen to Him!”
– Luke 9:35 –
A child grows up hearing tales of her great-grandfather, a legendary artist. One day, she finds a hidden-away painting in the store room—vibrant, alive, and more stunning than she imagined. Sunlight streams through the window, lighting up the colors, and she stands breathless. The stories were true—but now she’s seen it. Everything changes.

Like a child discovering a family treasure, the disciples saw Jesus’ glory on the mountain—not something new, but something revealed (Luke 9:29). Moses (the Law) and Elijah (the Prophets) had pointed to Him all along (v. 30–31). God’s command—“Listen to Him!”—moves us from wonder to action. The girl couldn’t forget the painting’s beauty, and Peter couldn’t ignore Jesus’ radiance. But true encounters lead us forward—from attic discoveries to daily obedience, from mountaintop light to valley-level following.
The Transfiguration wasn’t just for seeing, but for going: “Go down the mountain” (v. 37). That painting treasure changed her family story; this moment changes everything in us. Don’t just look at His glory—let it send you out.
A Journey of Reflection and Action
Take time today to read Luke 9:28–37 slowly, picturing the Transfiguration scene. Journal about a moment in your life when God’s presence felt especially real. What did it stir in you? Where might God be calling you to “go down the mountain” and bring His light into the ordinary places of your life—your home, work, or neighbourhood? Share this message with someone, or discuss it in your faith group. Meditate on the phrase “Listen to Him,” and ask the Holy Spirit what obedience looks like for you right now.
