The Right Lens for God’s Truth

“Blessed are your eyes, for they see”
– Matthew 13:16 –

*A father gives his son a toy decoder ring with special lenses. At first, everything looks normal—just regular signs and billboards. But when the boy looks through the lens, hidden messages appear: “PUSH” on one door, “PULL” on another. His eyes light up. “Wow,” he says, “The messages were always there—I just needed the right lens to see them.”

Jesus reminds us that spiritual sight is a gift—but also something we grow in. Like the boy’s decoder ring, God’s truth is all around us, but we need the right “lens” to see it. That lens is made of prayer, Scripture, and a humble heart.

The disciples didn’t figure it out on their own—they understood because they stayed close to Jesus. Today, that same Spirit wants to open your eyes too, turning ordinary moments into divine ones. When life feels unclear, remember the boy almost missed the signs—until he looked through his lens. So slow down. Pray. Look again. What seems small may be filled with God’s purpose.
“The spiritual person discerns all things” (1 Corinthians 2:15).

A Journey of Reflection and Action

Spend a few quiet minutes today reflecting on how you “see” the world around you. Journal one or two situations where God’s presence may be hidden in plain sight. Meditate on Matthew 13:16 and 1 Corinthians 2:15, asking God to sharpen your spiritual vision. Then, try viewing your day through the “lens” of Scripture—take one small action or interaction and invite the Holy Spirit into it. Share today’s message with someone you trust, or discuss it in a small group. Revisit this practice throughout the week and notice how spiritual awareness deepens with intentional focus.

Join Us in Prayer

Lord Jesus, open the eyes of my heart. So often, I rush past Your truth without even knowing it. Help me slow down, listen deeply, and see clearly through the lens of Your Spirit. Teach me to discern what is holy in the ordinary. May Your Word sharpen my vision and lead me to divine moments hidden in my day. Amen.
