“Blessed are they that have not seen,
and have believed.” John 20:29 –
A parent describes a beautiful, faraway mountain to their
children. One child, wide-eyed, trusts their parent’s
words, imagining the beauty instantly. Another child
insists, “I won’t believe it until I touch the snow!” The first
child immediately enjoys the mountain’s wonder through
trust, while the second waits for proof.
Thomas’s demand for proof (“Except I shall see… I will not
believe” – John 20:25) reflects our human struggle with faith.
We often crave tangible evidence—something we can see or
touch—to confirm God’s presence or action. But Jesus’ powerful response in John 20:29, “Blessed are those who do not
see, and believe,” calls us to a deeper trust. Like the child
who believes his parents about the unseen mountain ahead,
we’re called to embrace faith not just as intellectual agreement, but as confident reliance on God’s truth—even when
there’s no immediate “proof.” This blessing is for those who
walk by faith, not sight—finding peace in trust, not visible
certainty. Trust God’s word, even when the path is
hidden—His presence is your surest guide.
