Open the Gift: Christ’s Body, Freely Given

“This is my body, which is for you.”– 1 Corinthians 11:24 –

A father hands his son a sealed envelope containing the deed to all his properties—his life’s work, freely given.
“It’s all yours,” he says. The son is stunned, grateful—but delays opening it, not yet grasping what’s inside or what it means. The father waits patiently, longing for him to realize the value of the gift.

In both 1 Corinthians 11:24 and the Gospel of Luke 9:11–17, we see a pattern: Christ gives. He gives His Body, and He gives bread to the crowd—both symbols of spiritual nourishment. But the Eucharist is more than a meal; it’s a divine bequest, a sacred inheritance.
“This is my body, which is for you” (1 Cor 11:24) is Jesus saying: All I have, all I am, I give to you. Like the son who received the envelope, we hold in our hands something priceless—but have we truly opened our hearts to it? Have we embraced the life He offers?

The Body of Christ is not just to be received—it is to be lived.
Open the gift. Let it nourish you, transform you, and reconcile you to God. Step into your inheritance of grace.
