“Your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”
– Matthew 6:4 –
A child plants a sunflower seed in an abandoned lot where no one plays. She waters it daily, telling no one. Weeks later, neighbors start leaving milk jugs of water there. Then someone adds a bench. By summer, the lot is full of sunflowers – and no one remembers who planted the first one.
Jesus reveals a divine paradox: what we humbly hide in God’s sight will one day bloom in His perfect time. Like the lone sunflower seed, our secret prayers, unseen acts of generosity, and quiet faithfulness often become the deep roots of miracles that bless many lives. “Your Father who sees in secret will reward you” (Matthew 6:4). We are called to sow seeds of goodness not for applause or recognition, but because love compels us, and the Spirit leads us. What matters is not who gets the credit, but what is transformed.
Can you plant one “seed” of kindness or faith today that only God will see?
A Journey of Reflection and Action
Take a moment today to reflect on the unseen ways God may be calling you to plant seeds of kindness or service. Begin by journaling a quiet act of love you can do this week without announcing it. Meditate on Matthew 6:4 and consider how God’s reward comes not in applause but in unseen grace. Share this message with a friend or family member to inspire them, or discuss it in a small group. Make it a habit this week to choose one anonymous good deed daily and thank God in private for the chance to serve.
Join Us in Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for seeing what others never do—the quiet prayers, the gentle kindness, the seeds we plant in secret. Help us trust that what we do for You alone is never wasted. Teach us to love without needing applause, to give without needing thanks, and to serve with a heart full of joy. May our quiet obedience bloom into blessings beyond what we see. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
