“Do You Love Me? Answering Christ’s Call to Serve”

“Do you love me? … Feed my sheep.” – John 21:17

After a tough game, a coach pulled aside a star player, “Do you love this game? Do you really care about this team?”
The player, though weary, affirmed his commitment. The coach replied, “Then lead them. Show them what it means to play with heart.” It was a call not just to perform, but to embrace the responsibility with passion.

Like that coach, Jesus asks a piercing question: “Do you love me?” (John 21:15-17). He asked Peter three times—not to condemn, but to restore him. Peter, who once denied Jesus, was now given a chance to reaffirm his love and receive a mission: “Feed my lambs… Tend my sheep.” Jesus wasn’t seeking empty words but a love that acts—a call to care, lead, and serve. Our faith journey, like Peter’s, includes failures. Yet Jesus meets us with grace and invites us back to love and purpose. Let your life—not just your words—prove your love for Christ.

A Journey of Reflection and Action

To deepen your walk with Christ, take time today to journal about what it means to truly “feed His sheep” in your daily life. Reflect on John 21:15-17, reading it slowly and prayerfully. Meditate on how love is shown not just in words but in action. Share today’s message with someone who may need encouragement or restoration. Discuss it with your family or faith group this week and explore how your community can live out the mission Jesus gave to Peter. Let this be a starting point for daily intentional acts of love and service that demonstrate your devotion to Christ.

Join Us in Prayer

“Lord Jesus, You who see our failures and still call us by name, ignite in us a love that moves beyond words. Teach us to feed Your sheep—to lead with humility, serve with joy, and reflect Your grace in every act. Restore us as You restored Peter, and let our lives proclaim, ‘Yes, Lord, I love You.’ Amen.”
